Serenity - Those Left Behind
Overview: Here's how it is - in the universe filled with hearts and minds as cold and dark as the reaches of space, one small Firefly - class starship names Serenity takes its ragtag crew of mercenaries, outlaws, and fugitives in search of a job, any job, that'll earn them enough cash to afford that most elusive commodity - peace.
Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, unveils a previously unknown chapter in the lives of his favorite band of space brigands in this prequel to the Serenity feature film - the blockbuster follow-up to Whedon's cult-hit TV show Firefly.

What more can I say other than us Browncoats will do anything to get a little more of the Firefly universe. This book does a great job adding a little more to the Verse as we know it. The art in the book is excellent. I do have to say the first time I read the book I was a little disappointed, only because it was not enough and I wanted more. If you are a Serenity or Firefly fan you most likely already own this and I don't have to tell you to get it as soon as possible. If you are not a fan of the series yet you should check Serenity out first, let it hook you, then come back here when you are craving more. I also wanted to mention that Nathan Fillion does the intro to this book that is very cool and is something all captain tight pants fans will want to read it.

Ahh. The crew of Serenity. Does anything else inspire as much confidence to a geek? Certainly not to me. Well, “Serenity: Those Left Behind” spans the time between the Firefly series and the motion picture Serenity. If I’ve already lost you, you might as well stop reading now, because this book is not for you. If however you are as diehard a Browncoat as yours truly, follow me. First off I have to say the artwork is AMAZING! Really, I mean it! I have read my fair share of graphic novels in my time, but his one just screams gorgeous. Fans of the series can easily identify their favorite characters. From the beginning to end there is a little chop to the story, but a forgivable amount. My only true complaint is that some sequences felt cut short. One panel to explain something that could have easily been spread over several. I do understand that this is a collection of the comics, so that probably explains why. So to fans of Joss Whedon’s wonderful creation of Firefly fans will not be disappointed (except maybe by the short length of material). Others may not understand quite what’s going on and be confused.
