Alexander

Synopsis: Oliver Stone’s Alexander is based on the true story of one of history’s most luminous and influential leaders (COLIN FARRELL) – a man who had conquered 90% of the known world by the age of 25. Alexander led his virtually invincible Greek and Macedonian armies through 22,000 miles of sieges and conquests in just eight years, and by the time of his death at the age of 32 had forged an empire unlike any the world had ever seen. The film takes a bold, honest look at Alexander’s life and his relationships with his mother, Olympias (ANGELINA JOLIE), his father Philip (VAL KILMER), his lifelong friend and battle commander Hephaistion (JARED LETO), Roxane, his ambitious and beautiful Bactrian wife (ROSARIO DAWSON), and his trusted general and confidant Ptolemy (ANTHONY HOPKINS). Set in Alexander’s pre-Christian world of social customs and morals far different from today’s, the film explores a time of unmatched beauty and unbelievable brutality, of soaring ideals and staggering betrayals.

I remember this movie getting over and saying to myself "thanks you to whatever Gods are worshiped in this movie it is finally over." All you have to do is look at the directors cut to know how bad it is. The directors cut is 8 min shorter than the theatrical version. The flash backs in the movie were over used and with bad timing that only slowed the movie down and ruined the pace. I don't like how the battles were filmed. They didn't convince me that they were world changing nor did they have any sense of an epic battle. Most of the times the battles were hard to follow and very unclear. This would have been better if it was made into a 90 min movie instead of the length is was made. I don't recommend this movie to anybody but the extremely board or the totally insane.

Since I compare a lot of movies in terms of crappyness to this one I thought I should review it.
Alexander was the downright shittiest movie I have ever seen. It is a waste of the film its images are burned on. It wasn't so much the fact that I paid money to see it as it was a complete waste of three hours of my life. I can earn the money back but I will never see those 3 hours ever again. I have never heard so many people mumbling under their breath hoping a movie would be over soon. Not only me but half of the people in the movie theater shouted for joy when the movie was over.
Now I am wasting a few more minutes of my life just for you so you don't make the same mistake I did. I hope you appreciate it. Why did it suck? Well you know how most directors end up with so much good material when filming that they hate to cut the movie down to watchable size? In the case of Alexander they only had enough good material to make a 15 minute short film but in the editing room they crammed all the lousy material they could into the movie to stretch it out to 3 painful hours.
