You might argue that this does not deserve 5 stars. If you look at my track record I don't give out all that many 5 star ratings so what does this one do to deserve such a thing. First I think we have to give credit to Dan Brown for making such a great story to base the movie on. The twists and dept of the movie comes from his ability to tell a tale. Second if you know me at all you know I am not that big of a Tom Hanks fan, but this role was meant for him. Like Ford is Indiana Jones, Hanks is Robert Langdon. Sure there is controversy over the film and how it depicts religion. If you really pay attention they are neutral and allow you to form your opinion and even in my opinion shed a positive light on religion. I could go on for days talking about that but will get back to why this is a 5 star movie. On top of the good acting and writing we have a great backdrop for this film. Up until the last pope passed away I had no idea of what the process was to get another one. In all honesty it should be a tradition that they are proud of and this movie kind of gives us an inside glimpse of what the process is all about. Included in the backdrop is the locations. Old churches are always creepy and a great setting for a movie. I grew up running around and old church and it did have all kinds of little hiding places and secret rooms. It took them 10 years to build the church, nobody takes that kind of time to build anything anymore. Overall this movies does a great job balancing action, suspense, and intrigue. All intertwined with facts and fiction to make a great movie.
