The one bright spot of this film are some of the visual effects. Some of them are as good as any I have ever seen. Others lack major polish. To me the dragons were close to looking great but just didnt quite get there. The acting was hit or miss as well. Sometimes they were convincing others they were just laughable. I can appreciate that the director tried really hard to capture the spirit of Dungeons & Dragons and in several cases he did just that. One other aspect that just really didn't work for me was the costumes. The ones that didn't look like a rubber suit looked very cheap making the film seem like a cheap B movie. Granted the director raised the money for this film himself and had to spare coin somewhere. One area he didn't skimp on were locations. All the locations were done very well and complimented the feel of the movie very well. The Dungeons & Dragons universe has so much material to draw from that almost any movie is going to be a disapointment. This one falls short of many fans expectations as well as mine. Though I don't feel it is as bad as many do I still don't think it ever fully captured the spirit of Dungeons & Dragons.
