I remember watching this in the movie theater and now once again on DVD. I walked away with the same feeling both times. This movie is very anti-climatic. The final action scene in the movie felt to me that they ran out of budget and creative thought so they just figured it was good enough. I do like the characters in this movie, they all were done well. The story was pretty good, but not great. I can’t comment on how true they stayed to the comic book because I have never read any of them. Over all it is a good movie but the way it ended kind of makes you feel like you didn’t get anything for your time investment. Hellboy fans should check it out if you have not already.

There is a reason I never bought this one on DVD. I share most sentiments with Mr. James on this one but will go a step further in saying that the makeup on Hellboy was downright terrible. I had watched the preview and thought it looked kind of plasticy but ignored it thinking that the movie would be better. Well, I was disappointed. This is a not good not bad movie for me. Rent it.
