So you have read all the other reviews and a good portion of them bash this film. If I were to take a guess most of those loved the cartoon version and in there eyes this one does not hold up to it. What I would suggest is judge this film on its own and do not compare it to the cartoon version. This version actually goes into the back story of the Grinch. Speaking of the Grinch who better to play him then one of the most eccentric actors of all time Jim Carey. He does a great as the Grinch. As you probably know the Grinch does not like Christmas. Like I said this version actually goes into why that is something that I liked. I also the character Cindy Lou Who played by Taylor Momsen. From there you have Ron Howard telling this tale. He crafts a very Dr. Suess feel to the world he creates. Overall I enjoyed the feel, the atmosphere, and the story that is told. I think this film stands very well on its own and with that should be judged as such. This film has become our family film of choice for the holiday season.
