This is a very classic film. One that not only has spawned many sequels but also paved the way for special effects. It has even been credited with starting the wave of special effects that now is infused into almost every movie out of Hollywood. The story follows a film crew that is out to capture something that the world has never seen before. Little do they know they are messing with a force they can't control. I do agree that the special effects are like none other for the time this movie came out. What a thrill it must have been back then to see a giant ape take on a t-rex. Though the special effects do look pretty poor now they do stand up well with some of the special effects that we saw many years after this movie was made. The acting is decent but is right in line with other acting of that time. In modern film if actors performed the way they did then, we would call them over actors. One thing I have always liked from films back from the time this one was made is the sets. They really seemed to do a lot with the sets and really paid a lot of attention to detail. Overall I know some people have trouble with watching movies in black and white or that the score is very classical in its sound. For me that is what makes films from this ear great. I also really enjoyed the scenes from New York. There was a quick glimps of times square that made me smile.
