There are things I liked and things I didn't about this movie. The story of Planet of the Apes is pretty well known. A scientist lands on a planet, in this case after encountering a strange space storm. Shortly after he crash lands he is captured by the creature that is on the top of the food chain. The creature on the top is not humans but Apes. I do like that the movie does have a lot of good reflections on racism and standing up to it. It is a good reflection of putting humans on the short end of racism. I do like the look of the apes and the costumes used by them. I also think that the actors had some good quirky behaviors that really represented what an evolved ape might be. I think all the hoping around did get a little ridiculous and over the top. I do have a few problems with a few of the aspects of the story and they do take a way from the movie. Overall a few of the story problems really hold this movie back. I would have liked to see a little more of the ape village and less of the forest and desert. I would have liked to see a few more scenes with the apes and humans interacting. The good news that the movie was only a few things short of being an excellent movie, the bad news is that it didn't fully hit the mark.
