This movie is based on a true story and how does not love a true story that has sports involved. Radio is less about sports than you might think but one of the main characters is a high school football coach. Ed Harris plays Coach Jones who is a highly respected high school football coach. One day he catches some of his players tormenting a special needs boy that happened to come by practice. This boy that gets nicknamed Radio is played by Cuba Gooding Jr. The acting is very good and I would have to say that this might be the best performance by Ed Harris. Maybe this movie has a special place with me as I have been a long time high school coach. I can understand some of the decisions that are made and respect that at a point it becomes less about wins / loss and more about who you are helping. I was moved by this story and by the movie. That comes from great script writing and great performances. Overall I enjoyed this film a lot. I have watched the movie several times and each time I do I appreciate the movie as much as the time before. A movie being rewatchable is pretty telling on the quality of the film.
