I don't know how Quentin Tarantino always gets good actors but he does. I would have to think it is his writing. He does provide good dialog. The cool thing for a beginning film maker is that dialog does not cost a whole lot. The majority of this film takes place in a garage. I am not sure if it was intended but you get a distortion on the sound when in the garage. It works out, you don't get this was filmed in a sound studio effects. I remember watching this film when it first came out on VHS, the only thing I remembered from back then was the torture scene. Now seeing the movie again, I have a higher respect for Tarantino. He does write wonderful and witty lines into his movies. It is a shame he does not write more films. This is a very good film and is worth watching, having said that it is not a film you will pull off the shelf and watch over and over again.

Classic Tarantino! It's witty, vulgar, bloody and jumps around all over the place all while keeping your attention. Maybe I continue watching these movies out of some sick sense curiosity. You know, someting that is disturbing but you just can't look away. I don't know what it is about Quentin Tarantino movies but I enjoy them. this was the first and very low budget but without all that money for special effects and big name actors more time is spent on the story and I like it. If you're a fan you must buy this one. If you're not a fan you WILL NOT like it. If you've never seen a Tarantino flick, give it a try, you may be sorry!
