First things first, this movie is English subtitled and the spoken language is French. I know that for some that is enough to not want to read anymore. The story is suppose to be more about the daughter of d'Artagnan but you would not know that based on the English Title or really from watching the movie. His daughter Eloise played by Sophie Marceau has been hidden in a convent for the better part of her life or since her mother passed away. The convent gets attacked by bandits when a slave escapes and seeks refuge at the convent. After the attack Eloise goes to her father looking to get the Musketeers to get revenge on the attackers. The problem is the Musketeers have aged way past there prime and have also lost favor with the adolescent soon to be coronated king. That is the story in a nutshell. As much as I wanted this movie to good it just did not deliver. I was expecting a few really cool sword fights but this movie failed in that aspect. The fights were lame and the sound effects of the swords hitting sounded like plastic swords hitting. They were also maybe the slowest paced sword fights I had ever seen. With the spoken language being in French it makes it a little harder to follow the story. You miss some of the expressions and acting because you are to focused on reading the subtitles. Overall I just didn't feel like this movie delivered and I was disappointed by it.
