If you are looking for a Robin Hood film in the traditional sense you have already come to the wrong place. In this version it is all about how Robin became the legendary character. The movie starts with Robin being an archer during the crusades of King Richard. He returns to his homeland and starts to find more about his past. To me the story seemed a good idea up until they put the Robin Hood characters into it. The Robin Hood we have all grown up and loved is only shown in glimpses. The action and battle scenes were all very well done, something that Ridley Scott does do a great job with. I just had a hard time getting into the story. The actors playing the traditional Robin Hood characters all do a great job but that left me wanting more of a traditional Robin Hood story. Overall the idea of showing the beginning of the legend seems like a great idea but just did not deliver. There was very little steal from the rich and give to the poor. Because it had little of the traditional Robin Hood it just seemed to lack what I was expecting.
