Of Note: Director Phil Alden Robinson changed the villains from Islamic extremists (in the novel) to Neo-Nazis. This was done because prior to the 11 September 2001 attacks, he did not believe Arab terrorists could plausibly accomplish all that was necessary for the plot to work on film. After 9/11, the production staff had to review how to present the movie to the public.

I like a lot of things about this film. Actually Ben Affleck was pretty good in this film and in this role. I was a little concerned about that at first but he does pull it off. Actually I think he pulls off the whole I am way over my head and pay grade role pretty good, almost like he is pretty experienced in that. The movie itself is does a great job building suspense. After the terrible events of 911 we are more aware of how real terrorists are. They used to be something we would read about as they bombed an embassy in a far off country. Anyways the story portrays real risks and is a story that is easy to believe. You add in Morgan Freeman and the movie only gets better. Overall I enjoyed watching this movie, even laughing a few times as the writers did a great job breaking the tension. This is not a movie that I would say you would watch over and over again but one that is entertaining and worth watching.
