It is kind of hard to rate something that is over a hundred years old and compare it to what is being done with film today. At its time this film was the best of the best. It was not only the first film to do special effects it was also the first film to use animation. Keeping that in mind I am pretty impressed. In looking at some of the special effects and even some of the sets it was filmed on, I am to this day impressed with what was pulled off. It is a silent film and for me that makes it hard to fully appreciate. The story is about a group of people going to the moon. I really can't say much more than that because the film is only fourteen minutes long. Some of the versions that are out there have color in them, the color is hand drawn in making it rather blurry. Overall I have to appreciate this film for what it and that was give birth to the sci-fi film. It brought special effects and pushed directors to be more creative in there presentation. With that I have to a least appreciate what was done and what it represents.
