Memorable Quotes
Conor O'Neill: I want you guys to take a good look at yourselves and feel proud. We made it here. We're here. What I've learned from you is that really one of the most important things in life is showing up. I'm blown away by your ability to show up through everything that's gone on. The league never wanted you to play this game, but you showed up. But, uh, we only have eight players so, we can't play.
Kofi: It was booty. That girl Meg is dumb. Thinkin' her fathers comin' back from wherever. That's stupid to believe in. That girl and her mom are both trippin'. Cuz where I'm from... don't nobody's father come back.
Conor O'Neill: What? Since you can't talk shit, you got nothing to say?
Trivia
All of the league's team names are taken from tribes in Africa.
Before the film was released in 2001, posters and ads reflected the rating as R before it was re-edited to dub over the kids using the "f" word. Despite quite a bit of profanity remaining, the film was then released with a PG-13 rating.
Goofs
Characters often discuss going to "Sluggers" (a sports bar) and refer to it as being "on the corner of Clark and Addison". "Sluggers" is a real sports bar and several scenes from the film were shot there, however it is not on the corner of Clark and Addison - another famous sports bar, "The Cubby Bear", is the only bar on that corner. "Sluggers" (3540 N. Clark Street) is actually a full block from the intersection of Clark and Addison and is located at the intersection of Clark and Eddy.
Conor leaves a mid-day practice with the team to attend a Cubs game which reportedly begins in an hour. When they arrive, it is obviously a night game.
The trip to the Chicago Cubs baseball game was obviously filmed at Detroit's Tiger Stadium, not Chicago's Wrigley Field. The orange logo of the Detroit Tigers is even briefly visible on the seats.
After Conor places the $12,000 bet on what was supposed to be a Chicago Bulls vs. Miami Heat NBA game, he and Ticky watch the game through the window of a sports bar. But the game footage is from a Continental Basketball Association (CBA) game played at the Sundome in Yakima, Washington.
In the scene where G-Baby is shot, the bullet hole appears to be from a handgun. He is behind all of the gangsters shooting with handguns and the only shots fired back are from a shotgun. There is no way he could have that wound from that gun.
