Useless Movie Trivia For
Joy Ride
Memorable Movie Quotes
Fuller: I have never felt like more of a pussy in my entire life.
Fuller: Do what I do. Just remind yourself that in a hundred years you're gonna be dead. It's the closest thing I've got to a philosophy.
Fuller: Come on, I know what Dad says about me behind my back. That I'm the world's biggest loser. And that's coming from a plumber! That's coming from a man who wears a lime green jumpsuit to work everyday!
Rusty Nail: Now they know what it feels like... to be the butt-end of the joke. Your palms sweating, your face burning up. Now they know what it's like... to be the fucking punch line.
Trivia
The speaking voice for 'Rusty Nail' was provided by Ted Levine, most famous for portraying 'Buffalo Bill' in The Silence of the Lambs.
During the opening credits, when the camera pans around Paul Walker's room, a toy model of the car is visible on the dresser.
As Lewis is looking at his map in the car, his finger follows the road from Red Rock past Green River and down SW. Director John Dahl's earlier motel based thriller was Red Rock West.
To avoid the unpleasant effects of having to remove Scotch tape from Leelee Sobieski's hair and skin after the take, she was tied up with a strong, thick plastic film (like thick Saran Wrap) which looked like tape and stuck almost like tape, but which was glueless, making its removal simple and fuss-free.
Was renamed 'Roadkill' in the UK, since taking a 'Joy Ride' is not the pleasant journey it is in the states, rather the name for when youths steal cars and race each other or the cops and eventually total and dump the car.
The car they are driving is a 1971 Chrysler Newport.
Goofs
When they first get the CB radio, the antenna switches from the left to the right side of the Newport and back again (the film is flipped). When the antenna is seen on the right side, the rear bumper of the car appears smooth with the prominent dents missing.
When Rusty Nail rams the car against the tree, the driver's side window shatters, leaving only a jagged piece of glass. Later in the scene, the window is restored (yet cracked), then disappears again.
This is supposed to take place during summer vacation, yet the corn is at harvest height.
Because of re-shoots, the dates are inconsistent. The insert of Lewis's plane ticket shows he purchased it 12 DEC 99 for a 12 APR (2000) flight, yet when Fuller signs for the release of his effects, he has dated the form "6-6-99".
Rusty Nail's truck changes to different models in some shots: Freightliner and Peterbuilt.
When Lewis calls the sheriff's department at the gas station with the ice truck driver he asks for the Rawlins County Sheriff in Table Rock. Table Rock is in Sweetwater County and Rawlins is in Carbon County. There is no Rawlins County in Wyoming.
